About inPractice® Africa

Clinical Care Options (CCO) developed inPractice® Africa to provide physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in resource-constrained settings with relevant, practical training and certification to support and improve the existing healthcare infrastructure, clinician education, and patient outcomes. It is designed to support South African physicians and nurses in the management of HIV-infected and HIV/tuberculosis-coinfected patients.

inPractice® Africa integrates point-of-care reference information, regularly updated curricula by and for South African clinicians, continuing professional development certificate programs, relevant guidelines, and drugs databases, as well as referral clinical support for clinicians. A search of inPractice® Africa delivers content from all of its built-in resources using a customized search engine. This simultaneous search function makes inPractice® Africa uniquely suited to the needs of the practicing clinician. inPractice® Africa is certified for continuing professional development (CPD) credits by the South African Medical Association. inPractice® Africa also integrates online and offline technologies with store-and-forward synchronization capability and installable Windows, iPhone/iPad, and Android apps which all allow the user to access inPractice® features and resources while offline.

inPractice® Africa is free to use after a one-time registration.

inPractice® Africa is supported by an educational grant from ViiV Healthcare. Its initial development was made possible by a public–private partnership grant from US Agency for International Development and grants from Abbott, Gilead Sciences, Janssen and Merck pharmaceutical companies. It is produced in cooperation with 2 leading South African organizations involved in HIV/AIDS medical education: the Foundation for Professional Development and the University of the Witwatersrand.
